Terms & Conditions of Hire

1. Terms of Hire
a. The hire period shall be 48 hours unless otherwise agreed.
b. A deposit of 15% of the total hire value will be required to secure your items at time of booking.
c. Total payment should be made two weeks prior to booking date.
d. A £50 refundable damage deposit will be taken at time of payment, to be refunded, less any charge for damage or loss, when china has been returned to The Icing on the Cake.
e. Delivery is free for rentals of £40+ and within 10 miles of RH2, after this there is a 0.45p charge per mile.

 

2. Damage Responsibility
a. On receipt of the order it is the responsibility of the customer to check the inventory provided and inspect the goods prior to the event. In the event of any damage or missing items the customer shall immediately notify The Icing on the Cake.
b. The following breakage or loss costs will apply:

  • £5 per cup, saucers, side plate, milk jug, sugar bowl, cake plate or platter
  • £5 per bunting strip or other decorative item
  • £15 per cake stand and coffee/tea pots
  • £5 per glass
  • £15 per decanter
  • £2 per piece of cutlery
  • £5 per cake slice/ cake knife

Damage or loss of any packing crates shall be charged at full replacement cost.

 

3. Returns
a. Goods are to be returned cleaned and packed as received. China should be hand washed and is not dishwasher safe. Where goods are returned unwashed 25% of the booking fee will be retained from the damage deposit, with a maximum charge of £50.

 

4. Cancellation
Should the customer wish to cancel the booking they must notify ‘The Icing on the Cake” as soon as possible, a 50% cancellation fee will apply if less than 7 days notice is given.

 

5. Liability
a. In the unlikely event that we are unable to fulfill our obligations to you due to adverse weather conditions (such as snow) and other factors outside of our control a full refund of any monies paid will be given.
b. No liability shall attach to either party which is unable to perform its obligations in the event of “force majeure”
c. In the event of a circumstance of force majeure which relieves the parties from the performance of its obligations, both parties shall nevertheless best endeavour to perform its obligations as soon as is practicable.
d. Customers should be aware that vintage crockery is old and delicate and therefore no responsibility can be taken for any injury arising from the goods unless it can be shown to have resulted from negligence on the part of The Icing on the Cake.

 

n.b. Specific items seen on the website are used as examples of our range of china and therefore may not be included in your order. However The Icing on the Cake will endeavor to meet special requests where possible.

All of our china is genuinely vintage and whilst it is in good vintage condition, it may show signs of age and wear.
